Crafters Companion Shop | Flagship Store Opening

Crafters Companion shop.

A week ago, I had the pleasure of attending the launch of a Flagship store for a well known mail order brand, Crafter’s Companion.

I walked into the store which is proudly in the North East of the UK, in Newton Aycliffe, near to where the business began and was bowled over.

The trade mark Purple of the logo, pops around the shop, guiding your eyes from stand to stand, product to product and for me, shiny things to sparkly things. I was in heaven.

Crafters Companion was started by Sara Davies, whist at University, in 2005, who I had the pleasure of meeting and having a coffee with (and also the fabulous Jen from Mum in the Madhouse) The award winning company has gone from strength to strength, including having a dedicated US distribution centre in California and also with partnerships with well known brands such as Beatrix Potter and Downton Abbey.

Crafters Companion holds regular craft demonstrations within other retail environments that sell their products but in this new store, have a dedicated demonstration area with video link up to zoom into the technical areas and show on a large screen behind one of the crafters, most whom you will recognise from specialist crafting tv channels and shows.

As well as demonstrations, they have a great line up of workshops and on Saturday 23rd July, they are holding a family crafting event which sounds great.

The Flagship store is also a destination in itself. If you love all things craft but your partner doesn’t, don’t worry as they have a lovely coffee shop on site who make a mean latte and had a range of cakes and snacks. The chairs are comfy and there is even a tv which I’m sure will show the golf if you ask nicely! You could also leave your other half at home and meet up with your friends. Get some inspiration watch a demonstration, take part in a work shop and have coffee and cake to end your trip. How lovely.

The shop also sells a lot of well known brands that you will recognise – I bought some Modge Podge glue and foam brushes (a pack for 75p!) to make a special leaving pre – school gift that I’ll show you in the future.

The haberdashery area was equally well stocked and lovely. I saw so many fabrics that I want. I could buy so much from this shop and left feeling really inspired.

Thank you for inviting me to visit your store and well done on this fabulous achievement.

  1. This is like my idea of heaven if I ever get the chance I love to do crafty things . My most recent was making a scrap book of all my daughters cards when she was born. #weekendblogshare
