A letter to my boy.

To my dear darling 3 year old boy,

I want you always to remember that you are amazing. You are incredible, generous, strong, brave and mischievous. You are everything to me.
For years, I dreamt that you would be here in my life. That I could know you and love you and share my life with you. I am the luckiest mummy alive, to call you my son.
You take each day as it comes. Completely in your stride. You teach me how to be the best I can be. You remind me to slow down. To stop pushing myself and to just sit and be. With you. Playing, or cuddling, or chatting or reading.
I watch you play, and I listen to you speak and my heart swells with love and pride. Your heart is so big. There’s room for everyone.
Sometimes, I have to be tough. I have to say no and I have to stop you. As you grow, you are understanding and you try so hard. Thank you for trying.
I catch your eye and you smile at me. You give me a grin and you jump for a cuddle. You love so much.
I cherish the moments that you lay in my arms. The times that my kiss or my cuddle can soothe you. I hold you and tell you that I love you. How wonderful you are. The thought that one day, you will find out that not everyone is kind, makes me so sad. I want to protect you from everything but I know that you will be ok.
Without you, I don’t know who I would be. I love my life with you. Mummy and her helper.
Your future excites me. I can’t wait to see what will make you happy. How you will learn and where your life will take you. Until that time though, I will hold you close whilst you want me and let your wings grow and stretch as you strive for independence.
